Aim: to give creative young scientists (PhD + 3 years) the opportunity to develop their own research project in one of the LabexMER laboratories in Brest, South Brittany or in Nantes (France).
Fellows are appointed for two years.
Research projects must be relevant to the LabexMER research axes. These axes involve many disciplines (physics, biology, chemistry, geology, geophysics, geography, ecology…) and encompass the global ocean, the deep ocean and the coastal environment.
Human activity, including energy and mineral extraction, deep sea trawling, and even scientific exploration are altering deep sea habitats. Yet, there is little understanding or agreement about what steps should be taken to counter these changes. In November, Duke University and partners from around the world will convene a high-level workshop to explore these issues.
Lecturer (Fixed Term, Part Time 0.5) in Earth and Ocean Sciences at the National University of Ireland Galway. The appointment will be for a two year term 1st September 2012 - 31st August 2014. This is a 50% job-sharing post and actual working days may vary depending on teaching and research requirements.
