InterRidge promotes interdisciplinary, international studies of oceanic spreading centers by creating a global research community, planning and coordinating new science programs that no single nation can achieve alone, exchanging scientific information, and sharing new technologies and facilities. InterRidge is dedicated to reaching out to the public, scientists and governments, and to providing a unified voice for ocean ridge researchers worldwide.

GEOCEAN Symposium and Summer School, Brest, France

08/31/2012 17:00
Europe/Paris

Join us for a scientific Symposium, in tribute to Jean Francheteau, and a Summer School focused on geodynamic processes and biochemical interactions at seafloor spreading ridges.

Post-graduate, post-doctoral and research scientists interested in seafloor spreading processes and their interactions with the ocean and the biosphere are welcome to attend to these events.

The Symposium (August 27-28) is open to anyone, upon free registration. Abstracts for oral or poster presentations must be submitted by May 31st, 2012.

InterRidge-sponsored meeting: Ridge and Hotspots around the Mascarene Islands: present activity, past evolution

This meeting will take place on 3-7 Sept 2012 and will cover:
- Mid ocean ridges processes: volcanism, tectonics, and hydrothermalism
- Hotspots, ridges, and their interactions
- The fate of volcanic islands: from construction to destruction with a focus on the Mascarene Islands and the nearby Indian Ocean.

Third Decadal Plan - draft now open for comments

In 2011 InterRidge initiated a discussion online and at a meeting attached to AGU, to identify the major science questions it was felt InterRidge should address in the next decade. A draft of the Third Decadal Plan 2014-23 is now available for consultation by the InterRidge community.
